A Boutique Hotel in Concord

Charlotte is one of the biggest wedding hotspots in the state. But that’s no surprise to us. It is the most populated city in North Carolina by a large margin, after all. So it’s definitely not shocking for us to be there many weekends out of the year, hosting celebrations and bringing the party. However, there are some very cool and unique venues in the areas surrounding Charlotte, and we feel like they need some love too.

One such area is Concord, North Carolina. Situated 27 miles outside of Charlotte (we know, we checked), Concord has a lot of its own unique sights and venues. This wasn’t the first time we’ve been to Concord, but it was the first time we’ve been to the Hotel Concord. A self-described “boutique hotel,” the Hotel Concord is definitely a gem of the historic downtown.

We write a lot about the vibe of venues and weddings. While vibe is undoubtedly very very important for any couple looking for a specific feel, sometimes there are other factors worth looking into. And one of those factors is architecture.

We know, we know. “Architecture? Who cares about that?” You may be asking. But in the boutique hotel scene, architecture and architectural style take on a new importance. We learned that the style of the Hotel Concord falls into what’s referred to as “Art Deco.”

Art Deco was a style of architecture and ambiance that originated in Paris and was popular here in the states in the 1920s. It’s the style of old Hollywood and the Roaring 20s. And the hotel fuses these elements with some more modern twists, creating a very unique blend of historic and modern architecture. And no, we’re not architecture nerds. It’s just impossible to miss. And this style definitely plays a large role in creating the vibe of the venue itself.

DJ Graham was amazing! He listened to our wants and perfectly created the theme and feel for the evening. There wasn’t a dead second on the dance floor, and DJ Graham was able to master a playlist that our entire guest list enjoyed. The only disappointment is that we didn’t hire them for longer. Wouldn’t recommend anyone else!

Great Venue, Great Music

We could keep going about the unique atmosphere and style of the hotel. But we can’t get too far from our roots. We are DJs, after all. So for us, it’s always about the music. And there was absolutely a lot of great music to be heard.

Throughout the night, we had playlists featuring everything from T.I. to Motley Crue to Tim McGraw. And those are the kind of playlists we like. It’s always worth hiring a DJ if you’re into more than one kind of music (to be fair, it’s also always worth hiring a DJ for any situation in general).

The dance part of the night also featured an awesome variety of music. We were able to go from Shania Twain into Pitbull into blink-182. And the guests loved it. Everyone (including us) was a little sad when the night came to an end.

Some last-minute thoughts on the venue: we had a great time at the Hotel Concord. Boutique hotels absolutely make for very cool and unique venues. And they’re also a venue type we’ve been seeing an up-tick in. While they may not have eclipsed barn venues yet, it seems like they’re definitely going to be contenders in the coming months and years.

Final Thoughts

And as a final note, we just need to say… We absolutely love what we do. Being a part of the unique and personal ways couples celebrate is why we do it. And we loved being a part of this celebration. It’s always awesome to see how couples choose to celebrate.

In conclusion, we’ve learned that being a wedding DJ near Charlotte isn’t just about playing the music. So we take our role seriously. Facilitating such a big day is a serious job! That’s why we always give every wedding or event our all.
