The Gadsden House’s current reimagining began in 2014, and was led collectively by Luxury Simplified Construction in partnership with the Historic Charleston Foundation. The restoration was part of a wider push to revitalize the historic Ansonborough neighborhood. Zoom out further and the revitalization is part of the greater tradition of protecting and preserving the historic and architectural legacy of Charleston, South Carolina. A city…our city… which is considered by many to be one of the most historic and livable cities in the USA.
Contemporary Elegance
In keeping with the mansions’ historic legacy, many of The Gadsden mansion’s original features, like the beautiful heart pine floors in its four large parlors, the stunning fireplaces and dazzling crystal chandeliers were intricately restored. Those gorgeous elements were then combined with clean contemporary paint colors and convenient modern amenities, such as an amazing built-in sound system and top-of-the-line climate control.
Not content to stop there, the outdoor spaces are also gorgeous! Step outside into one of the three intimate courtyards on the property and you will be blown away by the sheer attention to detail that went into the restoration! The garden courtyards showcase an impeccable mix of bluestone, Charleston brick and oyster tabby surfaces. And, everywhere you look, there are magnolias, crepe myrtles, and palm trees that create an intimate oasis, in the heart of the city. Impressed yet? We hope so.
